Stout, stoloniferous, perennial herb; rootstock bulbous; leaves radical, many, linear-lanceolate, shortly acuminate, coriaceous, flat, edges smooth, sheathing leaf bases; scape 25-50 cm long, solid, slightly compressed; flowers 15-20 in umbel, white, fragrant at night; bracts greenish-white, ovate-lanceolate; perianth funnel or salver shaped, tube straight, lobes 6, linear, equaling the tube, stamens 6, red, at the throat of perianth, filaments very long, anthers versatile; ovary 3-celled, style filiform or slender, stigma minute, ovules few to many; capsules subglobose, membranous or coriaceous, bursting irregularly, sometimes beaked by fleshy base of perianth; seeds few, large, rounded. |
