Large, perennial herbs; bulbs globose, large, neck, short, stout; leaves numerous, broadly oblong, bright green, waved, acute or obtuse at apex, glabrous, coriaceous, subscabrid, scapes inserted on the neck of the bulb, as long as or shorter than leaves, inflorescence 10-20 flowered, umbels; flowers white with pink lengthwise streaks towards the centre, fragrant; perianth funnel shaped, tube cylindric, slightly curved; limbs-6, narrow, oblong lanceolate, much longer; stamens 6, red, filaments very long, equaling or slightly shorter than perianth, anthers versatile; ovary 3-celled, style filiform or slender, stigma minute, simple or cleft, ovules few to many; capsules subglobose, membranous or coriaceous, bursting irregularly, sometimes beaked by fleshy base of perianth, usually few-seeded; seeds globose, few smooth. |
