Evergreen, acaulscent, tufted perennial herb; roots are fleshy and finger like; leaves are opposite and arranged fan like in one plane; inflorescence consisted of 4-6 flowers that emerge in succession in a boat shaped spathe, producing a mucilaginous substance when in bloom, consisted of three brilliant orange sepals and three purplish blue-petals, two of the blue petals are joined together to form an arrow like nectary; fruit hard woody capsule that splits from the apex; seed black with a yellow aril, rounded. |
