Perennial herb with subterraneous, tuberous, robust stem; leaves linear, 20-30 cm long, radical or crowded at the base of stem; flowers many in spikes on elongated scape; flowers bracteate, fragrant, waxy, white, bloom from bottom to top; perianth gamophyllous, fleshy, persistent, tube long, curved, segments-6, subequal, obtuse, spreading; stamens-6, inserted near the mouth of perianth tube, included; ovary 3-celled with free top, many ovuled; fruit with persistent perianth on the top; capsule globose or ovoid, many seeded; seeds flat. |
