Perennial herb, culms 70-100 cm tall, erect or ascending, branched, glabrous, nodes glabrous; leaves 15-30 cm long, rounded at base; sheath terete, glabrous; ligales 2mm, membranous, fringed; inflorescence a panicle; spatheoles 3 cm long involucral spikelets 6.2-6.5 mm, scarious on margins lower glume 6-6.2 mm, acute, many-nerued; upper glu similar 3-nerved, lemma hyaline, equaling glume; anthers 3 yellow, 2-2.5 mm, callus with brown hairs; caryopsis 3-3.5mm truncateat apex.
