Perennial, tuberous, scapigerous herb; tubers globose, tunicalted; roots fibrous from basal disk; leaves linear or lanceolate, grooved; scapes 20-40 cm long, terete, glabrous with a terminal raceme of 15-20 flowers; flowers small, white; pedicels short; bracts ovate, acuminate, scarious; perianth white with green streaks along the veins, segements 6 in two whorls, outer recurved, inner erect; stamens-6, included, anthers oblong, filaments slender; ovary stipitate, oblong, obovoid, trigonous with conspicuous, septal nectaries, style short, stout, stigms capitate; capsules about 1 cm long, obovoid-oblong, 3-valved, many seeded, loculicidally dehiscent; seeds compressed, orbicular, membranous. |
