Perennial herb with ovoid bulbs; leaves straplike, forming a rosette, arising from the base of condensed stem; leaves scattered or alternate, strap shaped, entire, acute or acuminate, many nerved; inflorescence scapigerous; flowers white, numerous; perianth widely funnel-shaped, tepals-6 in 2-whorls, connate below, spreading limbs, margins undulate, central part of tepals extended like a ribbon shaped, long appendage; stamens-6, much exserted, filaments filiform, anther very long, versatile, erect; ovary 3-celled, style-1, long, filiform, stigma shortly trifid; capsules large, 3-valved, septicidal, ellipsoid dark green; seeds subglobose, numerous, black.
