Diffused branched, perennial herb; stem prostrate or ascending, purplish green, glabrous or minutely pubescent, thickened at nodes; roots fusiform; leaves at each node in unequal pairs, usually rounded, apex broadly ovate-oblong, unequal, sinuate to repand, puberulous, whitish beneath; petiole slender, often as long as the blades; flowers 4-10, together in small umbels, arranged in slender, long stalked, corymbose panicles, usually axillary rarely terminal; bracteoles lanceolate, acute; perianth glandular, viscid limbs, funnel shaped, dark pink with narrow, vertical bands outside; stamens 2 or 3, slightly exserted; ovary oblique, stipitate, stigma peltate; fruits 5-ribbed, glandular, viscid all over. |
