Perennial herb; roots fibrous with elongated, fusiform tubers; leaves radical, erect, narrowly ensiform, apex finely acuminate, base slightly narrowed with a few apiculate sheaths; scape with the narrow panicle, about 10-30cm long; lower bracts long, upper small, amplexicaul; flowers small, blue; sepals-3, free, membranous; petals-3, free, equal, obovate; stamens-3, anthers purple, staminodes 3, alternating with staminodes, anthers oblong, blue-mauve, subequal; ovary sessile, 3-locular, (rarely 2), style slender; capsule ellipsoid, trigonous, mucronate; seeds superposed on a triangular column, sharply angled, 3-6 in each cell. |
