Plant Description

Large tree, monoecious, erect, unarmed; trunk smooth, dull grey, faintly annulate; leaves large crowded at the ends of top, pinnatisect, petioles enclosing stem, leaflets linear-ensiform; many-nerved lengthwise, shortly 2-fid at apex sheath elongate; flowers greenish-white, numerous in spathes, spadices 3-4 androgynous, branched, shortly peduncled, spathes 2, deciduous; male flowers with outer perianth segments orbicular, minute; stamens shorter than the inner segments, female flowers with similar perianth as in males but inner segments usually connate below, stigmas 3, sessile; drupes brown to dark purple, globose.
