Climbing epiphyte; rooting from the nodes; stem s short or elongated; leaves petiolate, crowded towards apex, leathery to fragile and papery, glossy/semiglossy; leaves possess a structure called geniculatum that allows the plant to move its leaves towards the sun (like Sunflower); flowers in spadix, in axillary clusters.
