Plant Description

Erect, perennial, stout herb; leaves oblong to oblong-elliptic, rounded at base, entire, acuminate-cuspidate at apex, dull green, shining on both sides, with many white or yellow irregular blotches; petioles longer than the blade, channeled; spathe exserted with stout peduncle, shorter than the petioles; tube thick, accrescent, persistent, pale green; limb yellow, lanceolate, convolute, deciduous; spadix shorter than spathe, cream colored; neuter flowers subulate, suberect between the males and females, appendage subcylindric, creamy; perianth scaly or absent; anthers sessile, pollen vermiform cells; ovary ovoid, 1-celled, stigma sessile, ovules many, parietal placenta; berries obovoid, orange yellow, oblong-obovoid, many seeded; seeds oblong, with copious albumen.
