Perennial climbers, rooting from lower nodes; climbing by means of slightly fleshy, clasping roots; stem scandent, much branched, as thick as little finger; leaves distichous, cordate to obovate or lanceolate, acute or acuminate, base cuneate or rounded; petiole broad, flat, truncate, base amplexicaul; spathe small, reflexed, cymbiform, cuspidate, persistent; spadix yellow, globose or oblong, terminal, sessile or stipitate, stipe often decurved, flowering upwards; bracts very small; flowers bisexual; sepals-6, tips incurved; stamens-6, filaments flat, anther cells ellipsoid, extrorse; ovary 3-celled, ovule variously inserted, solitary, stigma small, discoid, style short or long; berries shortly peduncled, oblong-obovoid, 1-3 seeded; seeds oblong, exalbuminous.
