Education Awareness & Training
Biodiversity being a people centric subject,creating biodiversity awareness to trigger off actions by a range of stakeholders is high on Board's Agenda.
These awareness programmes use an array of methods ranging from Meetings, Workshops, Yatras, Radio and Television talk etc.
Main Activities under this thematic area are:-

Celebration of International Day for Biological Diversity (22 May)

The United Nations has proclaimed May 22nd as the International Day for Biological Diversity to promote understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board celebrates the International Day for Biological Diversity all over the State. Seminars, Rallies, Poster Competitions are organized in every district throughout the State. A State level event is organized in the Capital on the theme designated by CBD Secretariat.

“Mowgli Bal Utsav” – Awareness programme for school children

It is a unique outreach programme for greening the young minds. Mowgli is the famous character of Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book”. Mowgli Bal Utsav was initiated in 2004. Nearly 250 students area selected by a three tier selection process held at inter school, Block and District level. Finally 4 wining children (2 boys and 2 girls) from each district get the opportunity of a three day camping near Pench National Park of the State. During the three day camp various activities like safari, eco-trekking, village visit, activities and games related to biodiversity and environment are carried out by Board.

Quarterly Newsletter on Biodiversity

A quarterly newsletter entitled “Jaivividhata” is published by Board. It encompasses various activities of Board held during the quarter.

Documentary films on biodiversity

In an attempt to sensitize to common people on various facets of biodiversity M. P. State Biodiversity Board has made documentary/short films – Jaiv vividh Jeevan ka Jal, Ek Anoothi Pahal, Chiku or uske 1,36,000 dost.

Best Biodiversity Garden Competition

Biodiversity conservation is a people centric subject. In order to promote biodiversity conservation among urban/rural population Best Biodiversity Garden Competition is organized in each District. Nominations for Best Biodiversity Garden in individual and institutional categories are invited and screened at district level. The winners are given a cash award.

Awareness through Radio and Television

For creating awareness among the general public, M. P. State Biodiversity Board sponsors a program “Chalti Raha Zindagi” (on every Friday from 9:30 to 10.00 in the morning) and “Neem ki Chhaw Me” (on second and fourth Tuesday’s from 5:30 to 06.00 in the evening) on Akaashwaani (All India Radio).

Training programmes for Forest Officers, Field Staff regarding Biological Diversity Act, 2004 and Access and benefit sharing

Biodiversity awareness Workshop for different Stakeholders

Awareness workshop on different aspects of biodiversity conservation and its legal provisions are organized time to time for different Stake holder Deptts. – Forest, Agriculture, Veterinary, Fisheries, Horticulture, Panchayat etc.
